Gates and Entrances
An entrance suited to pedestrian and vehicle movement and the details of your site.
Supply and installation begin with a site survey and written specifications tailored to your project.
01 / Understand the System
Details to consider before you choose.
A gate is designed around the entrance layout, direction of movement and available space, whether sliding, hinged or combined with a separate pedestrian entrance. Selection covers the gate structure, fixings, hinges or sliding track, and finish.
Automation requires an assessment of loads, pinch points, safety devices and controls. Adding a motor alone does not make a gate safe. Foundations, fixings and connections must be installed by qualified professionals in accordance with the approved design.
Benefits and Applications
Organise vehicle and pedestrian movement with a suitable layout.
Coordinate the gate design with the boundary wall and façade.
Assess compatible automation for the gate and its intended use.
02 / Designs and Applications
Different settings. Considered solutions.

Sliding gate
Requires adequate side clearance. Review the track, drainage and end-of-travel positions.
Double-leaf hinged gate
Requires a swing arc clear of vehicles and obstacles. Review the opening direction and ground slopes.
Pedestrian entrance
Consider separating pedestrians from vehicles, along with lock and handle compatibility and access requirements.
03 / From Preparation to Handover
Clear steps from the start.
Before Installation
- Measure side clearance, the swing arc and the ground slope.
- Have a qualified professional assess the foundations, posts and their capacity.
- Determine wind loads, operating frequency and required safety devices.
- Prepare electrical connections, drainage and intercom provision within the agreed scope.
At Handover
- Check fixings, balance, travel limits and locking.
- Have the technician test safety devices and controls without putting anyone in the movement path.
- Explain operation, release and maintenance, and provide keys and control devices.
Dimensions, materials, models, performance limits, installation scope, timeframe, warranty and maintenance terms are defined in the approved quotation. This guide is general guidance and does not replace the installed product’s documentation or a technical site survey.
04 / After Installation
Use it correctly. Care for it simply.
Every Day
Handling and Operation
- Watch the movement area and do not allow anyone to stand behind the leaves or near pinch points.
- Do not climb the gate or hang weights from it.
- Stop operation if movement becomes heavy or the gate suffers an impact.
As Needed
How to Clean
- Wipe surfaces using a method compatible with the material and finish.
- From a safe position, remove sand and leaves from the sliding track and drainage areas.
- Gently clean sensor faces as directed in their manual without changing their alignment.
Protect the System
What to Avoid
- Do not increase motor force to overcome friction or an obstruction.
- Do not disable sensors or hold a leaf while it is moving.
- Do not adjust hinges or foundations or remove electrical covers yourself.
Do Not Ignore These Signs
When to Request Maintenance
- Ground contact, a dropped leaf or a loose hinge.
- A sensor-response or stopping fault.
- Significant corrosion, a crack in a foundation or a lock fault.
Agree inspection and cleaning intervals with the technician based on the manufacturer’s instructions, usage, dust and humidity. Electrical work, dismantling loaded components and work at height require a qualified professional. Do not attempt these repairs yourself.
05 / Frequently Asked Questions
Before you decide.
Is a sliding gate better than a hinged gate?
This depends on side clearance, swing space, slopes and loads. The options should be compared after surveying the entrance.
Can a motor be added to an existing gate?
Possibly, after assessing its structural condition, movement, safety provisions and operator compatibility. It is not automatically suitable.
